NFBS 〈한상대회 참여 후기〉
다음은 NFBS 임원들이 지난 10월 11~13일 켈리포니아주 Anheim Convention Center에서 개최되었던 제21차 한상대회에 참여하여 느낌 소감, ‘참여 후 기’ 를 본지에 보내온 것이다. 주요 내용을 재편집 전제한 것이다. 〈편집자주〉
” 한상드림 장학회 참여 보람 느껴 “
장원만(대회 수석부회장) :
저는 개최되기 하루전 (10 일) 일찍 도착해서 현장답사를 하였다. 현장에서 오랜만에 고국의 동포들을 보는 반가움과 반세기만에 대한민국의 위상을 알리는 기업전시회의 바쁜 손길을 느꼈다. 1층과 2층으로 이루어진 전체 20만 평방피트 사이즈에 600개 업체가 참가를 했다. 1층에는한국의 지방자치단체들이 부스를 갖고 참석하였고,그 지방의 회사들의 최신 제품의 샘플과 함께 특산물 홍보에 전념했다. 제품들은 K-Beauty도 있었고,생활용품 등 많은 것이 정겹게 구성되어 있었다. 2층에는 한쪽 옆면 전체가 컨퍼런스룸이 되어 있어서 비즈니스 미팅, 포럼 등을 할 수 있도록 준비가 되어있으며, 전체 행사 시스템을 컨트롤하는 룸이 준비되어 있었다. 해외동포 기업이며 우리 B/S업계의 자랑인 KISS사는 다이아몬드 스폰서로 40개정도의 Booth크기에 많은 제품들을 아주 멋스럽고, 환상적으로 전시장대를 꾸며 놓았다.
KISS의 전시대는 2층 전시장 입구, 한상을 대표하는 자리에 형형색색으로 꾸며져 있어서 더욱 자부심이 느껴졌다. 11일 오전 10시 개막전 화려한 장고춤과 사물놀이의 경쾌한 꽹과리소리와 함께 관계자분들의 방문으로 환상의 문이 열렸다. 그동안 한상대회준비를 위해 수고하신 분들의 노고가 보였다. 잘 정돈된 부스마다 생활에서느꼈던 특산품, 생활용품, 건강식품, 첨단 카메라 등 수많은 제품들이 눈과귀를 즐겁게했다. 각기업 관계자들의 해맑은 웃음과 소박함 속에 건네주는 홍삼, 김, 생강, 흑삼들의 샘플을 받으면서 동포로서의 동질감을 느낄 수 있었다.
우리 NFBS가 Booth를 갖고 대회에 참석하게 된 동기는 미국 내 NFBS가 어떤 단체인지, 뷰티인들을 위해 어떤일을 하는지 알리고자 참석한 것이다.무엇보다도 세계한인비즈니스대회 운영위원이 전세계 50여명 내외로 알고 있는데, 그 50명 가운데서 현 NFBS 조원형 총회장이 제21차 세계한인비즈니스대회의 부조직위원장이고, 그 어렵다는 운영위원 배석 수 하나를 우리NFBS가 더 갖고 있어서 참석을 하였습니다. (박현미 수석부회장이 운영위원으로 참여함)
한상 대회 준비 기간중, 서로 간의 (상공협회, 식품협회, 동포청 관계자) 협력과 교류 속에 뷰티업계의 발전을 위해 적극 참여하게 된 것이다. 더불어 한상대회 부스에 NFBS 로고를 새길수 있어서 더욱 더 뜻 깊은 행사였다.
한편, 한상대회가 뷰티인의 가발의 역사 속에서 시작되었다고 알고 있다. (제1대 대회장 : 정진철 로얄 아이맥스 회장) 시작은 뷰티인이 했으나 현재는 상공인협회가 주도하고 있는 것은 너무나 안타까운 현실이다. 뷰티 경영주들의 적극적인 참여가 아쉽고, 뷰티 소매상들에게 젖줄 역할을 해주는 Hair 회사의 모습이 보이지 않아 아쉬웠다. 차기 국제 한상 대회는 뷰티인들이 주도적으로 참여해, 현장에서 고객들과의 만남도 이루어졌으면 좋겠다.
Jang Won-man(Senior Vice Chairman of the Conference) :
I arrived a day early (on the 10th) and conducted a site survey. On site, I felt the warmth of seeing my fellow countrymen after a longtime and the busy hustle of the corporate exhibition showcasing Korea’s stature after half a century. The two-story venue, spanning 200,000 square feet, hosted 600 companies. On the first floor, local government entities from Korea set up booths and focused on promoting their specialty products alongside samples from their region’s companies. Products ranged from K-Beauty to daily general items. The second floor had conference rooms for business meetings and forums, and a control room for the entire event system. The KISS company, a pride of our B/S industry and overseas compatriots, was a diamond sponsor and beautifully showcased numerous products in about 40 booths.
KISS’s exhibit at the entrance of the second floor exhibition hall was splendidly decorated, evoking pride. The event began at 10 a.m. on the 11th with a lively drum dance and percussion sounds, along with visitors. The hard work of those who prepared for the Han Sang Conference was evident. The meticulously organized booths displayed various products, evoking joy. I felt a sense of kinship receiving samples like red ginseng, seaweed, and ginger from the friendly company representatives.
The reason NFBS had a booth at the conference was to inform about what NFBS does for beauty professionals in the U.S. Notably, out of the roughly 50 known global members of the Han Sang Business Conference Organizing Committee, NFBS’s Cho Won-hyung is the vice chairman, and NFBS also holds another seat, which is why we attended (with Senior Vice Chairman Park Hyun-mi participating).
During the preparation period for the Han Sang Conference, active participation ensued amid collaborations and exchanges with various organizations, including the commerce and food associations and expatriate officials. Moreover, having the NFBS logo at the conference booth made the event even more meaningful.
On the other hand, I understand that the Han Sang Conference originated from the history of wigs in the beauty industry (1st Conference Chairman: Jung Jin-cheol, CEO of Royal Imex Company). Although it began with beauty professionals, it’s regrettable that it’s now led by the Korean Chamber of Commerce USA. Active participation of beauty business owners is missed, and the absence of Hair companies, which play a pivotal role for beauty retailers, was also noticeable. I hope that at the next international Han Sang Conference, beauty professionals take a lead, facilitating meetings with clients on site.
양금숙 (이사) :
그동안 대회 참석을 여러 차례 했지만, 처음으로 <글로벌한 상드림>에 참석했다. 한상드림이 세계학생들에게 꿈을 주는 장학금이란 것을 알았다. 장원만(대외수석 부회장), 박현미 (대내수석 부회장) 그리고 조원형 총회장이 기부해 모은 한화 1천만원을 우리 NFBS 이름으로 보탰다. 나 자신 이 그 안에 있다는 것이 자랑스러웠다. 또한 바쁜 일정에도 총회장 외 7명 의 임원들이 로스엔젤레스 지역 헤어회사들도 방문하여 앞으로 우리 NFBS 가 어떻게 하면 소외된 소매상 분들을 위해서 도매상들과 힘을 뭉쳐서 협조 해갈 것인가 헤어회사 CEO 및 동력자분들과 진지하게 논의하고, 매끄럽게 설명을 하는데 함께 자리할 수 있어서 깊은 감동을 받았다. 이런 귀한 자리 에 더 많은 분들이 참여 했으면 하는 아쉬움이 있었으며, 나 역시 자주 참석 하지 못하였음을 송구스럽게 생각한다. 앞으로 NFBS의 발전을 위해 조금이 나마 도움이 되고 싶다.

I’ve attended many conferences, but it was my first time attending . I learned that Han Sang Dream offers scholarships to students worldwide. Jang Won-man (Senior External Vice Chairman), Park Hyun-mi (Senior Internal Vice Chairman), and Chairman Cho Won-hyung donated 10 million KRW, and I was proud that it was under the name of our NFBS. Despite the busy schedule, seven other executives, including the chairman, visited hair companies in the Los Angeles area, and I was deeply moved to participate in the discussions with the CEOs about how NFBS can collaborate with wholesalers to assist marginalized retailers

이번 한상대해에가서 느낀점이 많이 있었고 감동적인 일이 많았다. 다음에는 많은 분들이 같이 참석했으면 한다. 여러번 한상대회를 참석 했지만, 이번처럼 우리 NFBS의 Booth에서 NFBS 총연을 위해 함께할 수 있었던 것은 처음이다. 정말 기뻤다. 총회장을 비롯한 임원진들의 수고가 많았다.

There were many impressive moments during this Han Sang Conference. I wish more people had attended. I’ve participated in several Han Sang Conferences, but this was the first time I could do so from our NFBS booth. I was truly happy. The chairman and other executives worked hard.
최명신 (이사) :
귀중하고 아름다운 시간이었다. 참여한 모든 분들이 각자 인생에 한 획을 그었던 기회였다고 생각한다. 세 분께서 장학기금을 마련해, 총연(NFBS)의 위상을 보여주셔서 너무 감동이었다, 나도 앞으로 조금이나마 힘이되는 사람이 되겠다.

It was a valuable and beautiful time. I believe it was an opportunity for everyone who participated to make a mark in their lives. I was deeply moved by the three who set up the scholarship fund, showcasing the stature of NFBS. I too want to contribute in the future.
조원형 (총회장) :
NFBS 는 여러 이사님들과 지역 협회장님들을 주축으로 각 지역의 뷰티 도매와 소매에서 종사하시는 경영주분들이 하나가 되는 세계의 장을 열고자 세계 한인 비즈니스대회를 적극적으로 협조하고 있다. 2023년 제 21 차 세계한인비즈니스대회 운영위원장 이기철 재외동포청장님을 비롯해서 공동 대회장님들(하기환, 황병구, 노상일, 김기문, 김형률, 윤만, 이경철, 이중열)과 관계자 여러분들과의 만남을 통해서 앞으로도 많은 일이 진행될거라 믿는다. 이번 대회에서 미주뷰티서플라이 총연합회 많은 관심 가져주셔서 감사드리며, 모국의 지자체와 아울러 미국 현지 지자체의 공조를 기대하며 한걸음씩 노력해 나갈것이다. 이번 행사에 참석해 주신 방회장님, 최이사님, 양이사님, 두 분 수석님, 그리고 두분의 부회장님들께 감사를 드린다.
서부에 계신 도매상 관계자 분들도 많이들 응원해 주셨다. 특히, 서부 헤어회사의 Royal Imex, Eve Hair, Hair Couture사에서의 미팅은 앞으로 우리 뷰티인들이 나아갈 방향과 현재 1 -1.5 세대들이 하는 뷰티 비즈니스를 다음 세대까지 우리 한인들의 기업으로 이어져 갈수 있는 방안과 End User 와의 간격을 좁히는 방안, 어려운 경기 불황에서도 타민족에게 시장의 주도권을 뺏기지 않고 지킬 수 있는 방안 등을 빠른 시일내에 NFBS 포럼에서 다시만나누기로 하였다. 아울러, 내년 쇼까지도 열심히 응원해 주신 것에 대해서 여러 이사님들도 함께 인사 전해 주시면 감사하겠다.
Cho Won-hyung (Chairman) :
NFBS actively collaborates with the Global Korean Business Conference, aiming to unite beauty holesalers and retailers worldwide around our directors and regional association chairpersons. With the meetings and interactions with the co-chairs and officials of the 21st Global Korean Business Conference in 2023, I believe more will be achieved. I thank the participants, including Vice President Bang, Director Choi, Director Yang, both Senior Vice Chairmen, and both Vice Presidents.
Many wholesalers in the West also gave us a lot of support. In particular, meetings with the western hair companies Royal Imex, Eve Hair, and Hair Couture discussed the future direction of our beauty professionals, how the beauty business of the current 1 ~ 1.5 generations can be passed on to the next generation as Korean enterprises, ways to narrow the gap with the End User, and strategies to maintain market dominance without losing it to other ethnicities even during difficult economic downturns. We have agreed to discuss these matters again soon at the NFBS forum. Additionally, I would appreciate it if the board members could also convey their gratitude to those who have supported us diligently until next year’s show.
